WELCOME TO JOHN M. BLISS POST, SIOUX FALLS

John M Bliss Post 628
As yesterday's defenders of freedom, we want to welcome today's military service members into our ranks to become part of our elite group.  Our common bond is the battlefield, whether it is service in the Persian Gulf, Korea, Kosovo, the war on terrorism or peace-keeping expeditionary campaigns. Your courage and sacrifice have made a difference in preserving and defending world peace.

OUR MISSION

That the purpose of this Corporation shall be fraternal, patriotic, historical, charitable, and educational: to preserve and strengthen comradeship among its members; to assist worthy comrades; to perpetuate the memory and history of our dead; and to assist their widows and orphans; to maintain true allegiance to the Government of the United States of America, and fidelity to its Constitution and laws; to foster true patriotism; to maintain and extend the institutions of American freedom, and to preserve and defend the United States from all her enemies.

Commander's Corner

Commander Commander Mark Winter

Fellow Comrades,

We held our Pancake Breakfast and Chislic Feed this month, Mother Nature cooperated with us this month.  But we’re still looking for the wind speed control to turn it down a few notches (any help would be greatly appreciated).

We have finished our officer nominations. New officers were elected and installed. They will be listed in a later portion of the newsletter. Congratulations to the new electees.  All members had the opportunity to attend and be part of the process, the results rest with their decisions.

The plan is to participate in the Loyalty Parade in Brandon on Sunday, May 3, 2026, with the parade starting at 1:00 pm.

The VFW Post Memorial Program is scheduled for Thursday May 14,2026; more information will be listed in a later portion of the newsletter.

The Memorial Day Program will be held Monday, May 25, 2026, at the Military Alliance at 10:00 am.  The Marine Corps league will be hosting this year.

The Independence Day Parade will be held in downtown Sioux Falls on July 4, 2026, with the parade starting at 10:00 am.  We’re planning to have a trailer with veterans seated on chairs.  If interested, let the office know, seating is limited.

 Mark Winter, Commander
